CE Marking

On 1st July 2013 it became law for products sold in the EU and covered by a harmonised European Norm (hEN) or European Technical Assessment (ETA) to carry a CE mark.

All distributer’s, contractor’s & specifier’s have a legal responsibility to ensure that any of these products sold, overseen on site or specify are CE marked.

Bluebay Building Products (Including our in house brand Solco) can confirm there is no specific hEN (Harmonised European Norm) for Gas Membranes. However, we understand that because they are also required to act as a Damp Proof Membrane - whether as a primary or secondary function - they are subject to the DPM hEN and must be CE marked by law. Confirmation of this requirement can be obtained directly from the BBA (British Board of Agrément) - Tel. 01923 665 300 / www.bbacerts.co.uk

In their position as a leading warranty and insurance provider for UK house-building, the NHBC (National House-Building Council) has advised that an “independent assessment is required” in relation to both gas and damp proof membranes. This means that CE marking must be applied to all relevant products under their inspection.

Below is our CE compliant checklist which will help you to make sure your supplied products aren't putting you at risk:

1 - Declaration of Performance (DoP) for every required product

2 - Product conformity test results to hEN criteria

3 - EC Certificate of Factory Production Control (FPC)

4 - BBA certificates updated with reference to CE mark accreditation and EN Number

5 - CE mark including relevant EN Number displayed on product packaging

For your peace of mind all required Bluebay & Solco products including structural waterproofing and gas protection membranes are fully CE compliant. All other manufacturer’s products that require CE marking have been screened as compliant before they arrive on site. FPC Certificate’s and a Declaration of Performance’s (DoP) information is provided on each individual TDS full copies of these documents is also available on request.
